Chevrolet Colorado 2023: a revolution awaits us

In 2015, when Chevrolet reintroduced its pickup truck to the market, there was talk of an interesting evolution of the model that had been abandoned a few years earlier. In every way, the current generation has come into its own and served enthusiasts well.

For 2023, it's a new vintage that awaits us and recently, Chevrolet shared the basics about it. This time, it's not just an evolution, but a revolution.

Here's what the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck will be made of.

Style and configuration

The first thing that strikes you about the new model is its very eye-catching style. You'll notice that it's related to the big brother Silverado, which has the effect of harmonizing the lineup. And speaking of harmonization, the configuration is simplified for 2023. Indeed, we'll find a single wheelbase with one cab configuration (crew) and one box length (short).

Also note that as soon as we reach the Z71 version in the range, each Colorado will offer a distinct and recognizable style.

Versions and powertrains

Let's talk about versions. There are five versions in total, including the WT, LT, Z71, ZR2 and Trail Boss models. Interestingly, there will be three different chassis settings with these variants. This will be the regular configuration for the first two models, but with the Z71 and Trail Boss, the suspension will be raised by two inches. It will be raised by three inches with the ZR2 proposal, which will offer a 38.3 degree angle of attack.

Then, under the hood, if only one engine is offered, a 2.7-liter turbo 4-cylinder, different levels of performance will be possible. With the WT and LT models, the capacity is 237 horsepower and 259 pound-feet of torque, which will allow towing of 3500 pounds. For more capacity, it will be possible to opt for the 310 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque version of this powertrain. This time, the towing capacity will increase to 7700 pounds. This is what will be standard on the Z71 and Trail Boss models. As for the ZR2 model, it will have 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque (6,000 lb of towing capacity). A version more equipped for off-roading will also be offered, the Desert Boss.

An eight-speed automatic transmission, with multiple upgrades for 2023, will team up with the 4-cylinder.

The rest of the model will offer every possible level of interior refinement, depending on the trim level chosen. What will dominate the presentation are those 11.3 and 8.0 inch screens, respectively, for the multimedia system and the instrument cluster.

The 2023 Chevrolet Colorado will see its production launch early next year, so it won't make its debut until spring.
