The new 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV: here are the first details
July 19 2022,
On July 18, Chevrolet unveiled the all-electric version of the Chevrolet Blazer. The 2024 Blazer EV is scheduled to debut in the summer of 2023, but Chevrolet is far enough along with this model that they thought it was a good idea to present it to the public.
So, we have a good idea of what to expect. Let's take a quick look at what's on the table right off the bat.
Four models and lots of possibilities
Chevrolet has already announced the identity and starting prices of the four variants that will be offered: 1LT ($54,548), 2LT ($59,148), RS ($63,848) and SS ($83,548). Better yet, we learn that there will be rear-wheel drive models, but also front-wheel drive, in addition to all-wheel drive proposals. The company hinted at two, a rear-wheel drive RS model, as well as an all-wheel drive SS performance version.
But there will be more than that, as there will be different ranges for each model, different drive systems for some variants, and different power and range ratings. We won't speculate, but let's take a look at the two ends of the spectrum that were presented.
The rear-wheel drive RS version is said to be the range champion with 515 kilometers. On the other hand, the SS model with all-wheel drive would offer the most power at 564 horsepower and 648 pound-feet of torque. 0-100 km/h? Around 4 seconds.
It's easy to guess that there will be a variety of model configurations between the two. A version for police forces will also be created.
Recharging
For the recharge, Chevrolet announces a maximum capacity of 190 kW on a level 3 DC terminal. This will allow the recovery of 125 kilometers of autonomy in only 10 minutes. That's interesting. At home, the maximum capacity will be 11 kW on a Level 2 charging station.
The model will also offer regenerative braking. It will be interesting to see how effective it is.
Luxury models?
The Blazer EVs are not part of the Cadillac brand, but they will not be outdone in terms of luxury. All will come with heated seats and steering wheel, as well as a 17.7-inch screen at the multimedia system. LED lighting will also be standard, while the Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system, which Cadillac introduced more than five years ago, will be available with certain trim levels.
And when it comes to styling, we can say without being chauvinistic that the model is very successful. And its handling is promising, too, as the center of gravity has been kept very low due to the positioning of the batteries. The model seems ready to attack the road.
We can't wait, that's all we can tell you for now.
