The 2024 GMC Sierra HD AT4X Will Conquer Any Terrain

If you like the towing and hauling capabilities of a heavy-duty truck but like to let your hair down on some backcountry roads on the weekends, then the 2024 GMC Sierra HD AT4X could be the ultimate truck for you.

Available only as a 2500HD with a Crew Cab and standard-length bed, the HD AT4X leaves little to the imagination as to what its intentions are. The tires are off-road specific 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory M/T examples and they’ve wrapped themselves around black 18” wheels. Ride height has been increased by 1.5” and it all gets anchored to the ground by Multimatic DSSV spool-valve dampers for ultimate performance over a number of terrain types. In case the extra height and ground clearance still wasn’t enough, rest assured that enhanced front bash plate and steel skid plate will take care of your transfer case and radiator even as you traverse even the tallest rocks and stumps.

For those looking to conquer even more challenging terrain, there’s the AEV – American Expedition Vehicles – version, which adds even more to the off-roading equation with steel-stamped front and rear bumpers, winch, and stronger underbody protection as well as special AEV-spec 18” wheels.

Power for either model comes courtesy of two choices: a 6.6-litre gas V8 or a 6.6L Duramax diesel V8 which leaves the lot with 470 horsepower and a colossal 975 pound-feet of torque fed to the wheels via a 10-speed Allison automatic transmission. Those powertrain specs help the HD AT4X tow up to 8,390 kg (18,500 lbs.) and haul almost 1,500 kilos.

While the Sierra HD AT4X models appear burly and no-nonsense on the outside, don’t think that means the interior is a spartan place. In true Sierra fashion, we find all sorts of niceties in the cab such as a 12.3” digital gauge cluster and 13.4” infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heads-up display and even genuine leather and wood trim. Add massaging front seats and 12-speaker Bose audio and you have a truck that can conquer any terrain and coddle its occupants all at the same time.

The GMC Sierra HD AT4X is a prime example of just how far heavy duty trucks have come, and how far they can take you. Come by and have one of our experts help you find the AT4X that fits your lifestyle.
